the best wine in the world

what is the best wine in the world? you may have wondered or this could have been the question around the table among friends enjoying a glass of wine or while trying a couple of different bottles of wine.

it's a pretty damn difficult question and the answer is not an easy one; you can ask many around the wine business, Master Sommeliers, WSET Diploma holders, Masters of Wine - MWs , or just wine afficionados and still you will get plenty of different answers.

you may have heard about very expensive wine bottles that got auctioned for some incredible amounts of money, some that cannot be acquired by mortals, wines that are being kept in vaults and all that and you would think that the best wine in the world must be one of these really expensive ones. otherwise why would these be so freaking expensive and only for the 'few'?

wine is a liquid that is intended to be enjoyed by a human being and is expected to give pleasure by activating all five senses: sight, sound, smell, taste and touch.

sight - yes, you are intrigued by a weird looking label, or a bizarre bottle

sound - cork pop! the fun begins with a pop!

smell - aromas can be magical and can get you dreaming or bring up a memory

taste - drink the god damn thing; you paid for it

touch - don't spill the grape juice! feel the glass instead if you want to touch something

every wine you taste will give you a different feeling, a different memory, a different aftertaste. you will taste wines alone, or with friends, while being sad, or when celebrating, during dinner or in a tasting, in cheap glassware or in a $50 super-thin stemmed glass.

the wine you remember the most, the wine that you enjoyed the most, the wine that gave you the best pleasure, is the answer to the most difficult question. this is the best wine in the world, your world.
